I was curious about that too because I have some other similar Cobras....  Note that this has the underbarrel accessory 'deep', which aligns with base title prefix 'deep',  which adds  some significant damage modifier to Semi-auto sniper rifles class.  In other words its definitely legit.  Its just a badddass weapon.

it's just a Barret M82A1 with a personalized scope, I don't think it necessarily inspired it in Borderlands.

the red letter text 'I LIKE IT!' refers directly to the comment made by one of Clarence Boddicker's henchmen when Clarence demonstrated the Cobra assault cannon's effect on one of his henchmen's brand new car....  lol did you not watch Robocop? 

 

PS: You are right about that though, that the Barret M82A1was the direct design platform for the fictional 'Cobra Assault Cannon' used in the movie.
