I'm not sure if there is a topic devoted to the PC Gamer article itself, not the cover of the magazine, so forgive me if there is already a discussion regarding the article.  Has anyone else gotten the PC Gamer Magazine yet, and if so, what do you think of it?

Personally, I felt a little underwhelmed by the game.  I am still not thrilled about the graphics changes and the article did not discuss much about the RPG elements, but I will reserve judgement about the actual game until more information appears.

Borderlands

Borderlands is the cover story of the magazine, but unfortunately PC Gamer is only availible to subscribers for now.  It will be released to the general public on newsstands in a few weeks, as is customary.

Summary

I'll type up a brief summary of it for all to want to know.

The reviewer spawened as Roland (now the Jack of all trades character) in a rundown settlement and picks a mission from a "bounty board" which instructs him to kill 10 skags.  He goes to a skag infested area, finds a pistol that shoots fire and kills skags and levels up.  However, Gearbox did not let him use the RPG aspect and choose what he wanted to augment, he just became more powerful in general.

The reviewer then wanders into bandit territory and fights some bandits 3 levels higher than him.  He gets into an intense firefight against overwhelming odds and gets pinned down behind cover.  He then manages to kill a bandit, but not before the other Bandits bring him down to no health.  At that point he fell into a "Left 4 Dead style incapacitated state" from which he could have emerged if he had  been playing with a friend who could have revived him or,  secondly if he managed to kill another bandit while on the ground.

He then respawned in town and a Gearbox employee joined in to assist him.  However, the employee meleed his character, he meleed back and a PvP fight was initiated in the middle of town.  After beating an opponent 2 levels lower than him, the Gearbox employee brought him to an arena that enabled them to neutralize the level differences (the article does not elaborate here on what exactly that entails).

He then goes on a co-op run with the employee which leads them on a vehicle chase against bandits and eventually to a fight against a Rakk Hive.  The article ends with him stating that the gameplay felt good, but he could not really comment on the RPG elements because he was not permitted to explore them.

Hopefully more info will come out soon.

Character Classes

I suppose it would be helpful to summarize the 4 character classes

Lilith- Lilith is the redhaired girl in the scan.  She is the mage character and manipulates time and space

Mordecai- The hunter/sniper who has a sword for melee combat and can send his pet bloodwing bird to attack an energy.

Roland- The jack of all trades character who is an ex-Crimson Lance mercenary with a deployable turret that can act as a shield and an offensive weapon

Brick- The much ballyhooed fourth character serves as the tank/melee class and wears the paw of his deceased dog around his neck.  He can temporarily boost his melee power by injecting himself with a substance.

@ supercommie

 OMFG thank you!!!

And I don't think there is a designated PvP mode but it seems friendly fire is on which means I will be playing mostly with my friends or guys from this site.

But still imagine how fun that would be; 2 guys decide to team up so the other 2 go chasing them in buggies and stuff through the wastelands.

Are there only 2 pages of Borderlands stuff in the article?
