Farming
What is it?I've heard it alot on these forums.
Farming consist of collecting weapon. Most of the time it point one specific area, like... Let's say New Heaven ( :) ). So basically you go there, either you have no money and you just take everything from all the chests and sell what you don't need, either you're rich and just collect what you really want. Press Start, quite, come back and do it let's say quite a lot :)
It's the best way to have the best guns in the game ;)
There are a lot of weapon boxes in borderlands that are unguarded and players take advantage of that to "farm" for weapons. New Haven is a great example. There are 7 weapon boxes around New Haven and 5 of them are unguarded. One can collect those in a fast fluid motion. But there are other weapon boxes that are at teleportation reach that can be used for farming. Like the box next to the Middle of Nowhere's bounty board. Players use this to find powerful weapons without the hazzle of fighting waves of enemies to just get to a weapon box that contains low level or common weapons.
Yeah and Turret Hunter mentioned that chest just outside 'middle of nowhere'. Bump the skag piles there too, they always have shields and class improvements, sometimes really good ones!! You'll have to fight off some ants once ya bump but usually well worth it. Also, check out the location of the developers chest on u-tube usually very good for one visit on the first playthrough.
Never found anything amazing there (couple of basic Orange weapon) + Lots of Ants = Best to be safe in New Heaven.
What I usually do to get to the box in the Middle of Nowhere I just walk sticking as close as possible to the wall on the left. 90% of the time Spiderants don't even appear, but as soon as I touch the middle or fire at that point, they pop out.
Also, if you're crazy enough, teleport to the Crimson Enclave and as fast as possible run to the Crimson Fastness exit. As soon as you get in, walk straight ahead until you find an entrance to the left. Go in and there should be a weapon box (sometimes two, one of them changes of place). But you have to hurry, right next to the box (or boxes), there's some fencing which the Lance can see through. They either wave you off or shoot you. Then run out of there by taking the Crimson Enclave exit before the Lance gets you and teleport out of there. Not convenient, but most of the times I get purple weapons out of it.
dont forget dev cheast, its from the underpass, just drive across the plain to the 2nd turret tower where if u leave you die instantly, walk down the cliff but do go out to far or youll die, therell be a cheast there, just save and exit and restart and youll have the weapons and save all your cash, i juts kill myself to save the times since i can just get it all back form new haven
There's an issue with that chest. If you accidentaly exchange weapons or drop a weapon on that area, the item dropped instantly disappears.
sometimes it does, but it definatly wont if u drop it on the cheast
For real slice, you need to get the knox DLC. I know u said u don't got live, but it basically makes the game 100% more wicked.
Also, farming is now WAY more lucrative. However, all your previous items will instantly turn to shit.
Farming is where you go to a specific area to find easy loot. It's akin "Easy Money".
New Haven is where some folks suggest to "Farm" because there are 5 chests that are super easy to get to in town, no monsters to fight, which can mean anywhere between 8 to 20 lootable items. So folks go there to 'farm' the items, so they can sell them or get better weapons, then they'll save and reload and 'farm' the location again.
It's just a term used for finding weapons and items. It's similiar to 'grinding XP' in RPG games, except in Borderlands, you're farming guns and stuff.
