Mad Moxxi, Covergirl

The February 2010 issue of Game Developer just shipped with an excellent cover choice: Borderlands. The mag promises Gearbox explains its path to creating Borderlands on the pages inside. Unforutantely, I can't find the article online for free but this might be an interesting buy for the aspiring or current game developers among us.

Off Topic: Super Bowl

It doesn't have anything to do with Borderlands or even video games but I guess this Super Bowl thing is kind of big deal.

Everybody makes predictions about the outcome of the game so let's try something else. Borrowing a page from the playbook of IfTheyFight.com, if Colts QB Peyton Manning fought Saints QB Drew Brees, who would win?

Borderlands 360 2v2 Tourney

Much fun and digital carnage was had by all in our fist PvP tournament so we're doing it again. Henkin has graciously volunteer to run a 2v2 tourney. You can read the rules and sign up here.

Take Borderlands Survey, Possibly Win Stuff

Gearbox is asking for Borderlands players to answer some questions about themselves and their experience with the game. They'll pick some swag winners from the participants. Free stuff FTW.

That Dusty Game On The Shelf

Ever get excited about a game, buy it, and then never get a chance to play it? I have a couple like that right now on my shelf.

One is Dominions 3, a wickedly in-depth fantasy battle game. In my defense on this one, the learning curve is Everest-steep. The thought of spending 4 or 5 hours just learning how to play keeps deterring me.

Interview With Borderlands Guardian Angel

87 Bazillion, a Borderlands blog that we don't check nearly enough, posted an interview with the actress who played the game's guardian angel. It's an interesting peek into one part of the game's creation.

Don't expect any hints on the future of the character though. The actress plays coy when it comes to that.

All Your Base Belong To Us

Ok, I admit that title has very little to do with this post but I always wanted to use that reference. And besides, one word in the title refers to what I want to talk about.

xwmstormx is working on porting the Abandoned Base deathmatch map to Borderlands. Very cool stuff since there's been many laments about the limits of Borderlands multiplayer capabilities.

Congrats To Lambo 412, Our 360 PvP Champion

Congrats to Rob N Steal (AKA Lambo 412) for beating out fearsome competitor Henkin in our inaugural Borderlands 360 PvP cup. His award is that he gets to look at this jpeg of a 1st place medal to the right as much as he wants. The full results from the tournament are below.

By the way, a lot of people expressed interest in competing in this after the tournament started. Henkin has graciously volunteered to keep this thing going in some form, so stay tuned for more competition opportunities.
